IMPORTANT NOTICE. 

THE SANTA CRUZ VETERANS SERVICES OFFICE
IS MOVING TO TEMPORARY QUARTERS.

We were notified at 11:30 a.m. today, January 21, 2010, that the Santa Cruz Veterans Memorial Building will be closed until further notice as of 5 p.m. today. The reason given was that the building has been determined to be seismically unsafe. We are being moved to temporary quarters on the third floor of 1400 Emeline Street, Building K of the Emeline Street Complex. Our new telephone number is (831) 454-4761 and new fax number is (831) 454-4642.

We will not be able to see people on a walk-in basis until further notice. Please telephone for an appointment or to talk to a Veterans Services Representative.

We may be canceling appointment’s scheduled for the week of January 25, and may cancel appointments scheduled for the first week of February and beyond.

DAV van service will be canceled the week of January 25, at the very least.  The Palo Alto VA Shuttle Bus service will continue to operate as always. It stops across the street from the Santa Cruz Veterans Memorial Building  every non-holiday weekday at about 9:20 a.m. and arrives at the Palo Alto VA at about 10:45 a.m. It leaves the Palo Alto VA on the return trip at 2:00 p.m.  Telephone the Palo Alto VA Medical Center at 1-650-493-5000 for more information about this shuttle service and other stops on the route.

Service to the VA Monterey Clinic is available with Lift Line. Telephone 831-425-1558 for information and to make a reservation. There is also transportation from the Capitola Vet Center/Clinic to the VA Monterey Clinic provided by the Monterey DAV.  Telephone 831-384-9400 for information and to make a reservation.

We will not be able to host the Palo Alto VA Medical Outreach Team until further notice. We do not know when or where this service will resume.

We request that you not leave voice mail messages for us except in matters of urgency as we do not know when we will be able to reply. Please do not try to send us faxes for the time being. We will be assigned a new fax number.

Should you wish to contact the VA about the status of a claim, or if you wish to file a claim, you may, as always, telephone the VA’s National Call Center by dialing 1-800-827-1000 to request assistance.

If you are represented by the California Department of Veterans Affairs through us, and you are unable to reach us to discuss a matter involving great urgency and importance, you may be able to speak with a CDVA representative by dialing 1-510-286-0627.  Please remember that CDVA may be extremely limited in the assistance its staff might be able to provide.
